A little about Denis

Denis turned a $1,200 photography payout into a refugee-led enterprise tackling waste, jobs, and dignity in Turkana. Shaped by education, advocacy, and lived displacement, he challenges assumptions by building opportunity where few expect it.

More About Denis

A powerful voice for youth and innovation, Denis has dedicated his life to turning the challenges of displacement into opportunities for growth and dignity. He has served as an educator with Amala Education’s Global Secondary Diploma Programme, a facilitator with The Resilience Project, and a photographer with Restless Development, where his work on the global campaign to end violence against children earned him USD 1,200—the seed that sparked the birth of Kakuma Eco-Bag.

Denis is also a Global Youth Ambassador with Theirworld, advocating for the rights of young people worldwide and championing access to education in crisis settings.

Powered by lived experience and unwavering determination, Denis believes that refugee communities are not defined by limitation but by potential. Through Kakuma Eco-Bag, he is proving that innovation, courage, and opportunity can rise from the most overlooked places—and change an entire economy.
